New user Posts: 9 Location: Stoke On Trent | Hey guys, I finally have another Metro again. After 7 months of searching for another one I finally am back driving a lovely 1997 Rover 114 GTA in British Racing Green. She has had just 1 owner from new. With only 37k on the clock, service history. Mot till end of Jan 2015 and taxed she is good to go! I paid £400 for her off the original owner. She was bought new by an elderly man on 11th Nov 1997 and was owned by him until I bought her on Thursday! Its an amazing little car. Low mileage and in very good conditon. Few things that I need to do to her, but nothing I cant do ! And thats what every Metro is about ... Here are a few pics, excuse the Saxo mats !! For some reason the mats wern't in the car anymore so I am using the saxo ones until I find some Genuine mats. Its great to be driving one again ... after 7 months its good to be back on the Metro scene. Its my 3rd one now... stupidly I sold the S reg GSI that I had.... but all things happen for a reason. The GTA hasn't gone anywhere yet. She is still sat on my driveway so hopefully I will be able to buy her back for a small fee and perhaps post her on here for spares/repairs ?? So anyway, KKV will be looked after as most of you will know. I am still quite upset that my red gta has been written off but maybe one day someone will be able to put her back onto the road ? After all she only needs a Subframe mount, wheel, and quater panel ect. I just dont have the time to do it ..... Enjoy ! Alex

Think id be tempted to get all the interior out and check out what youve got... initially looks like it will be very sound. A good underbody pressurewash will probably bring it up like new!

New user Posts: 9 Location: Stoke On Trent | Thanks guys I am going to get the interior out of it on Sunday.. I had the car up on the ramps at my local garage yesterday and to be honest it is nice underneath. The floors look nice and solid and the sills. Just the rear arches are going at the back... so I better get those sorted ASAP!! I love how original it is, a real good buy for the money!! I have been on the 'how to' guide and had a look how to change the steering wheel from the original to the air bag one. I am a bit worried about when do it though just encase the air back goes off... I may need some help here ! If anyone has done it .. how easy is it to do ? Cheers. Alex

New user Posts: 9 Location: Stoke On Trent | Cheers guys !! Unfortunatley the head gasket went on the car last week. She is now back on the road again .... the car never over heated but there was condensation coming out of the exhaust and the water level kept rising until the point that it bubbled over into the header tank! I knew the head gasket had gone so I asked for some help off my Dad and we not have her fully working again. New headgasket, head skimmed, cam belt, water pump, thermostat, oil, oil filter, 4 spark plugs, leads, dizzy cap, rotor arm, antifreeze and the engine had a damn good clean in the process. Its like having a new car now When i next get some free time I shall get this steering wheel changed over, but Ive had to use all my time to get the car back on the road again. Managed to pick up some Genuine Rover 100/Metro mats for it and also Ive fitted the Genuine Rover 100 boot liner. Everythings coming together ... finally !!
