The London to Brighton Metro Run hasn't really caught on in the same way the Mini one has, has it?

That car is bloody lovely.

Totally agree on the suspension, no way would I have had my trusty SPi individualised, that shouldn't stop you putting decent shocks and poly bushes on it, best of both worlds

Thanks for the comments. It' is a very nice car and drives like a dream.

Just a little cosmetic update. The driver's side bonnet vent,had been stone chipped and it seemed to have spread quite an area, showing black plastic again, so for ease of rubbing the whole thing down smooth, I got hold of this NOS primered vent on eBay for £3. Part no. JAD 10020 LML

and here mid way through spraying which is where we are now. I sourced the paint from a local car shop that the guy mixed up for me, he has always been good in the past with colour matching and this one looks good too.

Going through the paperwork for the car today and was looking at the original finance invoice for £9500, saw the 1st owners name and address and looked them up on the phonebook online. They only still live there. I thought sod it so called them. Was chatting to the wife of the previous owner [he was out] and she didn't really sound that bothered that a car they bought new nearly 22 years ago is alive and kicking still, but hey ho.

I asked her about the colour, and from what she said, it was just sitting there in the showroom and they liked the colour. She had no idea it was so rare. Interesting. She's looking for photos when it was new, so hopefully something will turn up.

It would seem I have discovered via google another survivor, though not sure how old the photo is.

Looks great on the wheels, especially colour of front ones.

Hi Guys. Just an update.

A colleague from work with a pretty mint RX-8 came round to show me his detailing products as I'm starting to get into detailing. Cleaned up my car and it really brought up the paintwork!
Wheels first with 'Wolfs Brake duster';

My esteemed colleagues, Adam the train driver and Charlie just watching...

looking shiney;

Going for a drink after;

His immaculate RX-8;

Attempt at something artistic;

Bluewater;

Been taking the usual sunny day photos, hit 55k (middle aged?) and also did an oil change.

Not really an update but got this out of a tank. I could of got a little more I think but the next, next services on the motorway was too far. Almost 100% motorway driving and average speed prob about 65-70.

Well it was just above the red. And normally I go into the red. Haha Doesn't sound a lot actually, should it be more than that?

Should be around 38mpg with that many miles covered and just above the red.
I usually get 38mpg and on one occasion I've seen 42mpg with careful driving.

Connor.

Small update really.

Showed the car at the Bromley Pageant of Motoring with Gshaw/ Gerrard and his R100. I prepared some info sheets about the GTi as a model, my particular car and Project Pride to try and sway some 'shopping trolley' opinions.

Few pics. Hanging from my mirror is a original dealer 'Welcome to your new Rover' and PDI checklist. Must be a rare item these days.

and just a photo of my GTi and Dad's MG together on the drive.

Starting the proper restoration work on this car now, with the rear wheel arches being replaced. Sean aka R100_VVC is a very good welder and has completed the driver's side only atm (due to my own time constrains). This has been welded and primered/ protected very well and is booked for painting at a bodyshop next week.

Here are photos of the arch being cut out and welded and the semi finished product.

Thanks for the comments buddy. Can't wait to get it all painted. Using a shop up the road to Sean's that did Daz's rear quarters. £130 a side including prep.

Got an arch from Toby, that got it from you?

Na just the bits I'm getting done on Saturday but I want all bits with rust in even surface rust cut out and the two dents in both sides on my rear quarters I can't get out any other way.

I got quoted £500 but ill have to lend a hand doing the prep.

I will find out about the boot lid I'm going to pop up next week some point would this week but im working 6-5 this week :/
