Ok so I just couldn't stay away could I!!!

Took me some time to try and find a Solid Shell... wanted another GTI really but all the ones I looked at over the past 12 months were overpriced for the condition so sucked it up widened my search... anything Metro, K-Series!! Goal, find a Solid Shell... GTI Rep it!

Mission accomplished, not too shabby for just £125!!! '92 1.1L 3 door Metro, Flame Red, 42k on the clock, lots of service history and just 3 previous owners.

Model came with already colour coded bumpers and GTI rubbing strips so that's a couple less things to worry about...

Paint is faded well in places (rear quarters more noticeably) but is totally solid throughout, original arches, aftermarket Sunroof installed which at the same time had a new leather head lining fitted, so much tidier than the shitty thin fabric used by Rover! Crappy stickers on rear quarters and poorly tinted rear screen and rear quarter windows. Some tit at somepoint added another Ariel to it at the back, so will need to weld the hole up!

Plans.. well simple really, as the title says... Complete GTI Replica VVC'd!

Will get a new Paint Job (still debating what colour, open to suggestions...

Looks like a good shell. Bit of a strange model to have Gti/Si or S style rubstrips!
Mine has the same vinyl roof lining which the low spec metros got.
Your probably find your have the wires for fuel pump etc too.
I used the standard fuel line as my feed and used the carbon canister pipe from the engine bay to the tank as my return (only took a little modding)

Well I never knew that, I thought I was special with roof lining like that lol.. all my previous metros have been GTI's all of which came with that horrid thin carpet style lining.

I've completely stripped a R100 MPI for parts to convert, however as you say I may not need to transfer as much as I originally thought, bonus !

yeah I cant see how a quite thick piece of vinyl can be cheaper then a very thin piece of cloth. Mine is or was a k reg 1.1 quest and is as basic as u can get, it literally has nothing lol. Even my fuse box had every fuse in every slot so didn't even have to touch that!

looking forwarding to reading the updates on this, wouldnt worry about it not being a genuine GTi. Crazy how difficult they have become to find for reasonable money nowadays, 8 years ago they were everywhere for pennies

Looks like a nice car you bought there. A shame about the sunroof and the extra ariel.

Look forward too seeing what you do with this mate! I'm sure after a good polish the paint will look a lot better, but for the money you paid, who can complain!
