Go for a 1.8 vvc first, 1.8t are abit leary for a car you dont know. Unless if you have balls the size of melons then go for the 1.8t

the vvc can be done in a weekend, turbo conversion will take much much longer and cost alot more, vvc can be all done bolting bits together, turbo needs lots of work with intercooler or chargecooler or etc

Am i missing something or does the vvc not come with 143bjp or 160bhp and the 1.8T comes with 147bhp? Surely the 160vvc is the best route especially if its an easier conversion?

With a slight tweak they will easy push 200bhp with no internal or head work

Re mapped to the spec it was tested on in the factory but rover had to keep the power down to 150 so its kept inline of the 190 v6 engine

Ah nice cheers for the info

Can you re-map the standard ECU? Or do you have to go emerald or similar? If you can map the standard where can you get it done?

I'm building a rear engined k-series mini at the moment that i can make loads of room in so this sounds like a good idea to swap the engine over to.

That's out of the box, the mg zt 1.8t had 160 hp. A vvc has its limits at around 180 hp. 1.8t is tunable 200+ and has a shitload more torque than the vvc. Money allowing id be looking at a 1.8t. For ease and bang for buck go vvc.

Engine isn't the first thing you want to think about in a std more door tro. Sticky rubber, well sorted suspension and decent brakes should be top of the list.
