Clutch pedals abit high so I might need to cut the pedal up and set it so it's lower.. don't know what to do for heating, the standard heater is massive and heavy.. I only need the blower on the screen really.. I've got a small rear heater out of my hilux which I removed before I cut it in half lol so I might try to use that as a screen blower.

Well yet again I only got boring bits done.. lowered the clutch pedal abit and welded the gear linkage up. I drove it last night too! About an inch forward then back again too see what the clutch feels like! Promise I'll get some photos of some actual work up soon ish

Well I found some decent diameter pipe on a old truck and made my exhaust. It looks around 60mm ish but not 100 percent. It's all tacked up and I've cut the flexy joint off my old manifold too and replaced it with the one of the truck.. for a silencer I've used the center box from my vectra, I took it off a few month ago so it was lying around doing nothing. The pipe isn't the best condition in the world but it was the cheapest I could find! (Free) I will be taking it all back off tomorrow night so I can weld it up. It didn't sound that loud to be fair either. I think without exaggeration my 1.1 sounds noisier and that's got a smaller diameter pipe on it!hopefully it will stay quiet when it's welded up, if not I will add another silencer behind the gear linkage. Photos will be taken tomorrow

[/IMG] couple of the exhaust. I know it's not shiney but it's under the car the most of the time! If it's good I might consider re doing it out of stainless but as it is at the moment it looks abit low because of the gear linkage so the linkage might need throwing and redoing!

Don't like the way it sounds! I've only got one silencer on it though so I might try to add another at some point.. also it has a misfire if you put your foot down! Not a really noticeable one but still! Has anyone any idea what it could be?

So.. bit embarrassing but I fixed the misfire! Helps if the throttle body is tight! In other news my arch repair panels turned up so I will be fitting them at some point. I will be making a wheel arch roller at some point aswel because I can't justify spending 65 quid on a new one to use once!

I have had a think last night and I have decided! I'm going to strip the mid engined metro for its bits and use them on the white one.. I will be using the subframe and redband on my white gti so it means the subframe will need removing again from the white one lol! Can anyone help me with spring rates on the coilovers? Are the front and rear the same on the tf? I like my suspension to work rather than the solid suspension people like! It may handle well on a track but in the real world I think slightly softer is better.. well busy night tonight I guess!

Rear TF springs are 625lb/in, don't know what the front rates are, but they are softer, I've tried std rate springs on mine, but on track,
they felt too soft, I currently use 700lb/in springs and they feel ok on road and track.

Is that with the k series or the 20vt? I would imagine your engine weighs more than mine due to it having a turbo and other bits involved. I might stick with the tf rear springs for now and see how it sits. I'm in the middle of a few jobs and a big tidy/rearrange at my unit atm but hopefully I'll be back to work on it soon!

Both, I originally had the 700lb springs with the 'K' and tried the car with the 20vt engine in to see how it felt, I think I raised the platfoms
a touch, just to get the ride height the same. Mainly the extra weight was a cast iron block, turbo, intercooler and a slightly heavier exhaust
system, so not too bad really. Car feels ok with the 700lb springs.

An extra 75lb/in sounds quite abit but when you compare it to the weight they are anyway (625 lb/in) it dosent seem much.. I'll try the rears first as a benchmark and see how it goes. As anyone used a front arb from a tf? It looks a little close to where the manifold would be but it does look tidy at a glance..

Dont forget that the TF is midengined, so some of the mass is distributed to the front, in the metro, the mass is overhanging the front
so you have more leverage over the front suspension.
I tried a front arb, but the exhaust got in the way, other problem is, is that you need to use a front frame, so no sump/frame tiebar
bracket on the subframe.

Well I built my tf subframe up and just realised that the top arms are different! 1 step forward 2 steps back. At least I have a front and a rear subframe! I will take some photos soon

If you decide to go AVO front shocks, they use a rose-joint from the rear frame top arms 'that are different', just hacksaw through the cast top
arm to get them out, AVO use them for the lower shock mounting, they are the same as the std shocks.

I was looking at them last night and thinking they would make good joints for my panhard rod on my 4x4.. guessing they are expensive if you re use them for new shocks?

When I ordered my AVO shocks originally, I supplied a pair of std shocks so AVO could remove the bottom rose-joint and fit them
into the new shocks, I asked how much they would charge for them to source new ones and they said almost as expensive as the shocks,
but back then (@ 2003) they were probably dear to buy.

Well I think I'll keep them just in case haha.. although I do have a set of front shocks aswell so if I need any I've effectively got 3 sets..
Got the tf subframe fitted last night. It sits a little high at the front so I will need to look into getting it lower at some point! Also the triangle plate where the damper mounts needed completely removing because after I drilled the hole for the top of the strut to poke through, the tower of the subframe was still touching.. anyone else come across this? I thought you just needed to drill a hole (I did a 52mm hole) to let the top of the shock come through.

I dont understand that the frame sits high at the front, it should bolt in as per a metro frame as that's what its based on.
the tower is a bit close to the under side, the lh side touched on mine, so I just boshed it up a bit (a couple of mm), I noticed
that the tower was welded on a touch higher than the rh side, you can see the holes that should line up where the hydro can covers
would normally go are slightly out. I used a 60mm hole cutter.

Mine is a good 10mm higher than the plate I could have boshed it up I suppose but my hole saw broke a few teeth on the first hole (stupid too powerful drill) so I just trimmed them off.. I will weld something else in to gusset the chassis to the bulkhead and to hold the header tank. Not getting alot done at the moment because of work and my unit is a mess I've actually messed mine up so much I've started on my mates next door haha!

Not much to report at the moment. I have had quite alot of bother fitting the tf frame because I have ended up with positive camber some how! Been scratching my head with it for a good week now! My phone camera is goosed too so I can't get any decent photos
