Elite Veteran Posts: 925 Location: Thinking of vvc'ing my Roadster Brabus :-) | Old engine and box Prepping engine bay. 81.5mm Wiseco Pistons. New big port 20v head. With one piece steel valves. Gripper diff. Modified uprate Freelander box casing with my chosen ratios (C,C,S,C,C, 3.9 FD). Positioning RH mount. Sorting out RH mount. Re-routing handbrake cable to RH side to clear exhaust. Turbo to bulkhead clearance. Tf rad and 2 x 12" fans,(more room due to not ex manifold and engine tilts back as std). 3" exhaust downpipe to 1st box. 2nd box where fuel tank used to be. Back box tucked up towards the floor. Engine loom made using MFU. 43ltr fuel tank with Fluorolined hoses, High capacity pump, 3 return venturis, and a modified metro/100 sender unit. Just checking that the bonnet will close!! Std 100 bumper will fit, but I have taken 1" out to improve airflow through the intercooler and rad. It all fits!!

Elite Veteran Posts: 925 Location: Thinking of vvc'ing my Roadster Brabus :-) | Ed Norton - 24/5/2013 7:16 PM That is awesome on so many levels! Cheers, I have more pics to put up, just got my head around Photobuckets new page. Been out and about running it in, I have a mapped tune in that was done to a R200 that Reyland did, It has a identical steup engine wise to mine, except that car has a small- port head, I've just had to tweek the idle AFR and I've switched on the std lambda sensor so as the AFR isn't mad rich or lean, it'll do to run it in till its mapped propper at Reyland. The car is brutal at speed, I lit up the front wheels at 70mph on the M5 today, It was on std 185 Dunlops, hoping the R888 will be up to the job on track. Edited by Dave rcr 23/5/2013 8:45 PM

Regular Posts: 106 Location: Malvern | Having seen this last year all I can say is the photos dont show the quality of your work, how much work was there connecting the gearbox to engine? and if that old motor is feeling abandoned I'm sure I could find it a new home....lol....

Haaaa!!, I was wondering when someone would mention the 'old' engine, I'm keeping it for now, too much work gone into it, plus its having a birthday treat, a partial stripdown and a MLS gasket. Connecting the engine to the box was done using the Reyland adapter kit, as Martin has done this conversion to his ZR and a few customer's R200 and ZS, He trial fitted the engine into a 5door R100 to see if it would go in first, it did, to the point where his conversions still use the metro/100 RH mount in his other conversions, it was decided to use the PG1 box as the LH side of the car is done, ie g/box mounting, LH drivshaft and gear linkage, the RH shft is delt with via a jackshaft as there isn't room for the inner pot joint what with the block being in the way, but now even that problem has been dealt with now by Reyland machining part of the block away, mainly for lotus Elise conversions, (popular engine choice for these cars, 450 bhp conversions).

Veteran Posts: 310 Location: nr Evesham Worcs | I can only imagine how quick that is! I am a big fan of the the BAM 225 k04. Cracking engine! I saw Martins zr at Bedford a while ago and that was very very quick and a zr/200 weighs a load more than a R100. Hat off to you, awesome build! I would love to see this in the flesh at some point .

Absolute beast and excellent engineering! The 888's will see you proud, compared to 185 Dunlop D8s? Ditch finders! Just running my VVC on my R888 track tyres and really dont want to swap back to my yoko A539s roadies... totally different league

Elite Veteran Posts: 925 Location: Thinking of vvc'ing my Roadster Brabus :-) | Hopefully Sat 6th July Ford RS day at Castle Combe, open pit lane all day apart from lunchtime, the parade laps, and normally the nutters in the drift cars go out for a bit, not just limited to Fords even though its a Ford show, and its a good price as well.

Edit, which tracks are you going to this year? I normally go to Combe as the prices are more reasonable than Oulton Park and Donnington, plus its only 75 miles from me. I generally post up when there is a trackday that I'm going to.

I'm running it in atm, then Martin at Reyland is having it on his dyno, the map I have atm is out of a nearly identical engine he did for a customer with a R200, so its nearly there as is, its was running quite rich low down, so I've enabled the narrowcband oxy sensor up to 4000 rpm, so at least its not running 11:1 as it was in places on the map, its nearer 14.5:1 now which is ok, not too lean and no bore-washing. Bit rich on cold start though 10:1, but it will get sorted.

Yeah, it was actually a struggle to reach the gearstick when properly strapped in, I have shortened the throw under the car so the stick moves a bit less than a std stick even though it is longer.
