also fitted the rest of the bottom end bolts, an got the cam retainer moded for counter sunk bolts and fitted that, when i get a 3/16ths allen key tomorrow i can fit the timing chain/front cover fitted, which will be a massive step forward, hopefully do it tomorrow,

Thanks, yea its fun making people think im mad

anyway hit another problem with the cam sprocket, made an error an its 4mm out, so using it to my advantage and making a kind of spacer to space it out, i have also made this from steel as i didnt realize but its a bearing surface for any thrust load on the cam,

I have got the last bearing bolt in, and also removed the oil pick up, the pick up had a steel spacer spacing it off the engine which was horrifically heavy, think i will make it from plastic as it doesnt really do anything, also have the titanium bolt rather than the steel stud/nut.

removed the crank sensor, will have to mod it to fit the dia of the PG1 fly wheel.

anyone know the diameter of the pick up ring on a PG1???

After screwing up ont he alignment and also not realizing the cam gear takes the thrust load of the cam, i got a steel part made up which goes inside the cam cog,

Hopefully i can fit this later today which will be a big step forward!!

It worked! This is good news, to get the front cover on i just need to make up a wood ruff key, and machine a tiny bit off the cover to allow it to clear the chain, hopefully get the gaskets an crank seal needed tomoz,

Few pics, oil cooler take off blanks,

Front cover with titanium oil pump bolts, and you can also see at the top i had to machine it to make clearance for the thicker chain,

and the cover on, just need to get it all sorted and sus out what im doing with water pipes, i think i will either weld ali pipes direct to the cover or again make something which can bolt on and take silicone hoses.

Kinda been side tracked as bought a triumph speed triple, but i have been working on the front cover a bit more,

i am going to get these pipes welded in somehow like in the pic, and also cut off all the rest of the part which is no longer needed for the old water pump,

got this fulley welded today, and put it on as a test fit with the alternator, all fits ok, the pipe was just fitted for reference, in reality it will need a longer pipe before the bend so plenty of clearance with the alternator pulley,

need to make up some little washers for the cam cog bolts and presure test the front cover welds, then its ready to be fitted properly.
