after beeing a Mini driver for more longer than i will admit to, i have a 1992 Metro as my daily driver. after getting used to it i really like it. it has a 1.4l engine with 8 valves

it's running MEMS 1.3 and the main reason i got this car is to fit MEMS 1.9 as we need a test car for our replacement ecu. MEMS 1.3 and 1.6 SPi replacement ecus are already working well. some Mini drivers may have heared of it.

I thought it was MEMS 1.6 and 1.9?

Is it Single Point Injection?

Welcome anyway

it still is single point injection, yes. but i hope i've read enough here and found all parts i need to go MPi.

it's a MEMS 1.3, with the 2 connectors and the stupid switch at the throttle pedal. i think we got it due to our high emission rules. IIRC we never got the carb'ed version over here due to that.

Not ever seen that version of the ECU before, learn something every day

EDIT: Just found this, useful info for some in here http://www.gaima.co.uk/peter/RoverMEMS.pdf

sadly not very popular, makes them cheap to buy but parts are hard to find. and most are in a bad condition.
but i like to drive a car most people don't even know

back into Metro after quite some time/years.
after managing some health issues and that i just couldn't scrap my rusty Metro, i decided to weld it and if i find time in near future i may fit a bigger engine

Welcome to Metropower! Great to see a German owner on here as theres not many!

The German Metro's were the first to get injection and catylic converters from 1990 where the rest of europe I think was 1993!

Also I think the german metros have the electricaly adjustable headlamp level from 1990, the UK got these from 1997! Does your Metro have these?

I think all German K-series Metros were SPi from day one due to their regs, so they had the 8v SPi's first with Cat's and never had any carb k-series. Think they were all memes1.6 though.
mems1.3 is on the 1980's EFi verisons of the MG Montegos, Maestros, 800s etc. the early 90's of these cars got mems1.6 too.

Some of the auto choke maestro and montegos have the mems1.3 ecu aswell on carb engines.

I think all German Metros (called 111 or 114 in Germany) have adjustable headlamps, the rear "pop-out" windows and catalytic converter with lambda sensor.

my Metro/114 doesn't have the rear opening windows. i have a set from a GTi lying around but i don't know if i will ever fit them.
MEMS 1.6 seems to show up around end of 1992, so all earlier injection Rover over here, even my first 214 (XW), were MEMS 1.3. we even got 1726 Minis with MEMS 1.3. a bit strange as injection with cat and lambda to meet Euro 1 emissions was needed from Jannuary 1993 on.
and yes headlamp leveling was mandatory in Germany from 1990 on. and honestly, it make sense. i once (over)filled my Metro's boot and without problem i could blind some people standing on a bridge over the autobahn. setting them to lowest and i could see the road again.
