Hi all,
Just done some track time at the weekend and been told that my yokohama A-0048 soft compound are rolling over on the front when cornering ... just wondered if anyone has experienced this also and can recommend changes to reduce it as not keen on a tyre popping of at speed. Running individualused hydro with gaz adjustable 10 clicks out from soft and wheel ride height 300mm. Many thanks in advane.

I use the exact same tyres on my a-series and I use the same pressures but switched ends. I have tried lower pressures on the front as low as 24, but found that this would cause the tyres to compress to much on the outside edge when cornering hard so now I am using 28 on the front at it seems like I have wear just to the edge of the tyre which seems correct. at the back I used to run 28-30 psi but found that only the middle of the tyre would touch the road so now I use 26 psi on the rear and also this looks like the entire thread is being worn.

Thanks dot matriX for the pointers.. sounds like I still have to play around more with pressures more to reduce sidewall roll/compression and think as I am now pushing harder than I did at the beginning of the season the low front pressure might be the cause.

You need more camber at the front

I run 175/60/13's (even taller sidewalls) and don't seem to have any issues. Is this for circuit or sprint use? Surprised you only raise pressures 2psi between hot and cold. A048's are known for soft sidewalls.

Hi t3gav... use the car in sprint racing so 1500 yards max hence 2 to 3 psi increase is what I get the moment. Spoke to technical depth at your hama this week and they seemed of about pressure cold and hot. They also concluded that a camber change is needed so with comments so far I think it's the first port of call... Thanks to everyone who provided input on this thread.. very much appreciated!

Yes. Add some negative camber on the front.

How are you planning on doing it?

Hi traktro,
From what info I have.. Mgf top arms as a start then look at slotting mounts if needed seems to be the common suggestions.

You want the MGF lower ball joint, it will give you a bit more castor and more -ve camber. -1 to -1.5 degrees approx. after fitting.
