After some solid info
I have a 1.8t engine I'm building but the spec sheets say my head is out of tolerance already and needs another skim so will be even further out

Anyone ever measured there heads when re building or just skim them and put them on and hope for best?

Proving hard to find a second hand one and don't fancy spending £300 on a new head

Cheers Danny

Yes it does mate
After some research I'll be fine using this head

Officially, you are only supposed to be able to skim the head by .008" (8 thou), but I've had 32 thou off
a VVC head and trackday'd it with no probs, (still got it on the engine), but with MLS gaskets now and using the head
saver shim so the fire rings bite into that, I reckon it should be ok to skim quite a bit off.
