So after finally messing around with getting my engine conversion done, it was time to have a little play with my Silverline Silverstorm rotary polisher.

I went head first into getting a rotary rather than going for a DA first - simply because I can't be bothered with messing around buying and selling when i know i'll end up with a rotary in the end anyway.

Products used:

Fairy liquid (just to strip the wax I had on originally)
ASDA wash mitt
Duragloss 901
ASDA drying towel
Autosmart tardis
Bilt Hamber regular clay
Serious performance low cut, hi-cut and finishing polish
Serious performance white, orange and finishing pads
3M detailing tape.
AG Extra Gloss Protection
Colli #915

This was before any wash - not actually in a bad state as it's not been driven yet but still the paint work was lacking refinement and definition.

Also had some random tar spots on the rear bumper

I then clayed it - love Bilt Hamber. Deffo going to be using this clay from now on. Fitted my alloys too...

After claying I washed with duragloss 901 and dried it.

I then went about taking the vents and washer jets out ready for polishing.

Taped up using 3M detailing tape

Note the plastic sandwich bags under the bonnet vents to stop polishing dust residue getting in the engine bay!

Taped up a patch on the bonnet to test which combination was working best for the correction. It may be in an unorthadox place but I am learning.

Can really see here the lacquer from the rattle can on the rear arch that I haven't blended in properly yet

Just a random shot post claying and washing

Moved into the garage for the added benfit of a strip light above.

After polish and rinsed off

You can see that one headlight is duller than the other - water has got in somewhere and has reduced the clarity of it :@

Quite a bit of orange peel, something i may tackle once i've gotten good at this malarchy

I then applied one coat of AG EGP and one coat of Colli 915#

Then today i've applied another coat of Colli to catch out the parts I may have missed.

So finishing shots i guess!

It's a bit nooby because I am a noob. but not to worry - I enjoyed it.

Would love some comments and criticism.

Cheers, Dan!

Cheers !!

Yeah had that quite a few times. It trying to jump out of my hands. Also quite annoying is all the different angles and.curves of the metro which are really hard to get in with thebpads I have. really need to get a smaller backing plate and pads. All in good time though.

Looks much better but one thing that will set it off is a nice set of silver x spokes which i will be more than happy to swap for your black ones .

Haha why don't you spray yours like what I did? It's fairly simple to do!

Cheers mate.

And the Beetle belongs to a priest, who is a friend of ours. He also has a Triumpth Herald and a super old Jag.

As my Dad is pretty handy with cars he always does work on his car that the Priest in incapable of. We've always got another car in the drive that isn't ours that my Dad will be working on for a friend or whatever.

The covered up car is my Dad's Porsche Boxster S. His mid life crisis, suppose it's better than a pet or a tattoo lol.
