That's it, might be worth paying the extra score for a thermostat with that type of oil cooler

Cheers for that, ill need a temp gauge aswell, its something that ill have to wait to do,

would be nice to get a light flywheel and balance the whole bottom end for next year

I have a spare head which needs portmatching to the 6 bolt manifold and vvc inlet

Hopefully it'l be trouble free next year

Was chatting to a guy with a K series Caterham and he said it had some kind of oil mist sprayer to stop sides of the engine running dry of oil on track days, not sure if that's something you could consider.

Also, don't some TFs (or all?) have an oil cooler set up?

Just the tf 160's. Also the rear coolant rail, oil filter housing is different there's also a y piece which is fitted to bottom hose to split the pipes to feed the water to cooler after the cooler it then joins back to thermostat housing. I used a t piece so that the pipe from heater still goes back in to stat as well. I think that's it.

Looking at the 160 manifold a bit of metal needs to come off the head, surprisingly the gasket is a spot on fit to the manifold!

Which will make matching abit quicker with me not having to make a template

What coilpack have you got fitted to the 1.8? It should run fine all through the revs, just run a bit lean higher up the range. From the symptoms you are describing, it sounds like you have got a dying coilpack.

Can get proper jobs...
lot are used on air-cooled VWs where heaters are shite!
Not very good for melting the ice that appears with every breath in a winters day...
but normal demisting duties on a modern sealed vehicle,
they should be just the job!?!

LOL. The more I see mine, the more the amber offends me!!
Once parts have turned up, I can mod them, and lose amber side repeaters too!!

Telling ya bud c gearset with 3.9 fd is the best comprimise! Either that or like you were saying custom ratios. We'l have to have a sit down one day and try figure out whats best and what can be used. Iirc k500 had a decent box that was sold to vvc warrior which had a crazy combo of ratios. Dont know where that box is now??

ZR 160 box is a 'C' 1st and 2nd, and the rest is BRM (0.848 5th), on a 3.9, will be too low,
go for a 'C' 5th (0.765) on a 3.9 and work back for the best spaced ratios.

Could i use a r200 diesel 5th?

Or is 0.765 the lowest 5th? I have a c4 in my car atm
