For those of you who want to try your hand at image editing, but cant afford the hefty retail price for photoshop or dont want to tempt the legal re-percussions with downloading a copy via peer to peer applications (torrents et al), there may be an answer.
One of the doctors on A&E told me about a program that's genuinly a good alternative to photoshop, that isn't as memory-hungry as Adobe (so if youre still packing a P4 and 512 of RAM, fear not)...
AND ITS FREE.
It's opensource (users contribute modifications, enhancements and bug fixes) so updates are always coming out, and if theres a tool you want, you can ask for it on the forum and hope that someone hooks you up.

Thought I'd check it out, looks legit to me.
Heres the Wiki
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GIMP

Heres the Forums
http://gimpforums.com/

And heres the official site (Downloads)
http://www.gimp.org/

See what you think, atleast now you have no excuse that you cant afford photoshop!

I've used GIMP on and off for YONKS, but never really do anything too complex - just photo touchup really.

Works for me!
