I have put my gti engine into my gta and tomorrow will be connecting the things together on the loom etc. I have noticed that the rad fan doesnt have anywhere to connect to and has a short cable with male clip on end.

I have also found that there is a feamale connector near to the ecu which does not connect to anything this is a female (yellow casing) and is unable to move more than in inch or so.

I have used the the gta ecu, can anyone hlp??

Cheers.

A oilcovered, cold and tired tro owner

Hi Elliot

I have been going through your previous threads - about three layers down in the tech forum
and our e-mails etc.

I have been trying to work out the problem. If you are using your R100 MPI I cannot understand the problem.

More info if possible.

- cant look at my Ascot as I have parked it down the road to give me room to work on the GTI.

There was a connection left over from the gti which doesnt connect to anything and it sits up by the ecu, it is a feamle connector with two slots, ths casing is yellow in colour.

The rad fan has a piece of cable with a male connector upon it with two connectors, which looks similar in size to the fore mentioned connector, but it has slighlty different connections.ie clips. and also the cable would not reach to the ecu.

Also there is a connector missing that goes onto the $£$£$£ tank ( forgotten name of it) but it is on ecu side of engine and is clindrical in shape with various hoses attached.

That is the best I can explain from memory.

Hi Elliot

Having just looked at the GTI (in the dark) - that connector if it is about 3/4in round then that is the diagnosics socket and now will not work.

Your diagnostics socket is in the fusebox compartment - all changed for the R100. The alarm diagnostics
goes to there as well - but on the GTI those wires are routed via vehicle harness and go to another plug
by the inertia switch - so obviously you aint got that.

Just found out from lads doing the car that they are using the loom from the gti.....the rad wil be sorted as we have found a way of connecting it, but now due to this we have found that the gti engine did not have a purge control valve assembly like the rover 100.

The two bits we cannot connect are as follows, hose to inlet and the wiring that connects it is not there??

Any ideas.... it is snowing and I am trying to get it done today.

Hi Elliot

Just sent another e-mail

Anyway regarding the purge valve your problems will be sorted when you get that harness back.
