Ok guys so I'm building a r100 with. 1.6 16v for the drag strip next year

Going to be running in the upto 1600 na clas

I know I will easily beat VTRs vtss and all the other stuff the only thing that worries me is the civics with the b16s

What chance do you think I have

I have remover all interior to just 1 bucket seat

Engine will be a healthy 110hp

I really want to win the class

What's your thoughts ?

Could you stick a vvc head on it?

People have said that a decent 1.6 in metro puts it about level with a 106 gti/VTS so I wouldnt write them off too easily as they are quite a tuneable engine but that aside what modifications are permitted? Is it sort of anything goes as long as you arent running forced induction?
vvc head is an option as it'll fit physically but you are going to require some management/remap to run as there is nothing off the shelf for the 1.6 unlike the 1.8 but people have tried it with cars o nhere, not sure how well they got on though but I believe the cars did run to a degree at least.
You'd be better off with a set camshafts in my view and then running the later management so you can get it mapped to suit then maybe look at throttle bodies but then it starts to get pricey. vvc exhaust cams will fit with a few minor mods to wiring setups or putting a dizzy drive on them, I believe from reading a few things on them up to 20bhp increase is possible and they'll be cheap to get hold of.
I reckon 120/130bhp in a metro thats been lightened a fair bit should easily give a b16 civic a run for its money

Remember the B16B EK9 civics are 185bhp as standard, so more like 200 if they are drag racing and have thrown some money at it...

IMO to run reliably you will need a PG1 gearbox conversion

To be competitive you'll likely need slicks/drag radials, correct gear ratios and 150+ bhp. This will certainly require head work, either a heavily ported and cammed head or a vvc head
