cheers for that guys those strips are chrome I’m surprised they stayed on after all the exposure to the sun after all these years! Gonna be putting new door on tomorrow hopefully. Here some pictures of the parts I got

Dirty new alloys £40 for five

New old door being filed of rust and primed as it had been stored on ground of scrappy

Cleaned alloys up ready to be restored , trying to decide weather keep them silver, go back or white?? Or maybe dark grey?

Wonder what the best tyres I could get on these babys!? Want semi slicks really : )

Here it is with new alloys propped up against it. Need alloy wheel nuts…

Good work finding the correct colour door!!

The wheels will look great when fitted.

Not keen on all those silver lines,

I would also lift up all the carpets to check for the dreaded rust and water that can lurk below.

Cheers, it was pure luck getting that door was the first scrappy we went to! Gonna be cutting down on some of the chrome, (it was the kinda thing to do back in 05-06 sticking things to ya car I spose?! lol) tho I think I’ll keep the bits around the back lights, what you think?
Yeah was thinking of lifting carpets to see if rust had come though, as i was taking side skirt off today to get dented fender off and notice sound insulation was coming off underneath, was a bit like rust stained and flaking at the edges, so hoping it ent to bad! Also tried to get the spare wheel out today but the fixing nutt had rusted on… ended up having to use a hammer! got there in the end.

been getting fender off yesterday to get the dent out and try and see why the front is pushed down... havent done door yet as need someone to hold it as i unbolt it + i found some more rust on the inside of "new" door at the bottom where the seal goes so been sanding that down and filling it so needs a spray ready to go on. anyway heres some picture of what i been at.

^ whats this thing for?^

^got the bonnet on level now buy twisting it a bit. passenger side headlight is bit pushed in tho, can this be adjusted?

Looks like your getting stuck in mate, but never use the jacking points to jack up a metro especially with one of those shitty scissor jacks. Get a proper hydraulic one on the subframe - it'll save your floors

The thing on the inside drivers wing is your headlamp resistor iirc

Looking good, 100% agree with never using the jacking points just incase - ive saw a few jacks magically appear inside the car from doing that

Id keep the wheels silver or gun metal against that colour, both look really nice (Jabba's other half Terri has one in this colour and it had Gun Metal wheels on - looked nice)

yeah was a bit conserned about using it but really just wanted to get on with it, so think i'm going to be investing in a hydraulic one today! maybe some axle stands to. tho dont think i'll just throw the scissor one away! lol!
the sheet over the top is a ground sheet, i am so glad i got! its 13ft x 16ft so can easily work around the car in the rain, also keeps the bird crap off which is usefull being under trees!

do like the sound off that gun metal! tho seeing the silver alloy proped against it has made decisions hard! also wondering whats the widest tyres i can get on these gta alloys? cheers for letting me know bout resistor btw

Nice bit of hard work... coming on well......

cheers buddy, yeah its getting there. just really can't wait to get the body work back in the condition off when i sold it, tho this would cost a fair bit to do properly with new panels! trying to do this on a budget, so filer and T-cut for a lot of it!

anyway heres a few more pictures off what i been at n that...

^think a missing clip could be one of the reasons for dodgy front end... araldite!! lucky the clip hadnt fallen out of the light fitting.

^where the grey primer is there was patches of light rust.

^ decided to get all the rust off the inside of the door in the end, was going to do the bottom inner edge when door was on car as its stored on the ground but its easier working on it like this i thought.

^ MESS!!

^the guy stuck no smoking stickers in it... but the headliner is stained, cigarette burns in drivers seat and then opened the ash tray to find in full of ash!? so if this guy likes doing the opporsite makes me wonder about the other sticker "think dont drink"... hmmmmmm

^oh and one small thing, had a look at this light thought it just wasnt screwed in proper but it seems to be. maybe he broke it and got a metro one not 100, are they different??

beat me to it tom if you just flip it over it should fit in better

i found that when installing the other rear fog light in, if you flip it over it will fit better (maybe not perfect) but a lot better than it is now

I've also given it a quick wash, and got the headunit like what i used to have wired up, tho i need a alpine cage to fit it.

also given the roof a t-cut and polish as the guy i got it back off put things on the roof, i also think its been sat on! also touched up small scratches

after getting the audio working properly i decided to strip it out to see if i was in for any nasty surprises, good job i did as footwells were full of water!! tho no serious rust, luckly seems i caught it early.

bye bye subby

sorted fog out, the guy i bought it back off had only fixed it in with one screw, the other was pushing it out.

was wondering after i sorted out the rust to put the stuff back in, but after i drove it with just one seat i was so shocked how much of a difference this has made! love it, it handles amazing even tho its on crappy barums!! cant amagine how good it will be with toyo R888's, lower, stiffer suspension, anti-roll bars, shocks, better brakes, exhaust system and a 160bhp engine!!!!!! i really am getting ahead of myself!! lol
