Next on the cards is a set of avo coilovers for the front, avo dampers for the rear and getting the ride hight and set up sorted properly and mesh in the front grill.

Nice, whats it like with the torsion bar setup?, looks lighter than a subframe.

What setup are you running on your rear beam then, saxo VTR w/associated arbs judging by the wheels?

I used to work for talon and used to own the mid engined 1.6 metro we built, but sadly i lost it in a big way and killed it some years ago on an icy back road. But we took a mold off the arches which we made in steel and filler on the mid engined (car so it was very heavy), so with this i knocked a set up of the arches out of the old moldings. The rear torsion bar set up is quite a bit lighter than that of a metro rear subframe and is quite a lot wider hence the arches, (it is fractionally narrower than the front) which gives the car a better aspect ratio and is mounted in a rear semi space frame with a cosmetic 2mm ali floor and arches. This rear torsion bar set up is as per on the saxo vtr as its a half way house between the 106 gti thicker bars and the standard 18mm bars although i have a set of each torsion bars to play with and a 2 sets of different antiroll bars. For those not in the know the 106/saxo beams are floored as they suffer from water getting in the seals and knackering the needle rollers and thus the stubs, with no means of greasing. So in this beam it has olite bushes instead, running on a bigger stub to cure the problem. It seems to handle ok but it has a long way to go as its currently way too high due to standard tf front suspension. I shall do lots of messing about with the rear set up once i have the front end sorted with the avo's and the right camber and caster and ive fitted my tf antiroll bar .

The main idea is to get it as light as possible and for that reason all the removable panels bar the front wings are fibreglass, bar the doors which are carbon fibre. I am not too sure about the bumper myself in all honesty....so that will probs be redone at some point. The main thing is to do a lot of testing to see if the splitter works at all with the full flat undertray and diffuser i am in the process of making, then maybe i can make the bumper look better, still with some function and hopefully not the max power look it has atm. Cheers for the interest.

Sadly the molds are not in my grasp any more as they live outside in a heap at talon and they were in a bit of a state even when i used them....so i think now they would be about buggered (they were only temp molds for accident damage). But if a few people wanted wide arch metro's i would gladly make 2 new proper molds of them and knock a limited run of them out. The only problem you would face cosmetically is that the new arches would need the much wider rear bumper at the very least. Hence why the back end of this car looks different as i have stretched the standard rear bumper, made a mold and then made a fibreglass bumper, same with the rear lights and tailgate.... Then you would need some large wheel spacers or opt for a bit of a diff rear end set up. Either way i personally would like to see more wide arched metros .

Mot passed and now taxed . Its actually pretty quick, pretty sure its quite a bit quicker than i remember the old talon rt being. I really want to get it weighed now, as it drives very light for a vvc metty.

Cheers So am i as it happens! It was good to meet you. You had any luck with toying with the gearchange yet? You will have to keep me posted as to if you are deffo doing that drag event at long marsdon as i will be there like a shot with it! I may even have the correct ride height and an Lsd by that time. Oh yea can you pop me the web address of the place you work as i think i may be needing a bigger ali fuel tank in the near future as 18 litres is a tad too small. lol

Next job is to do a full service on the box replacing all bearings and seals and give it a coat of paint before fitting. Big thanks to Munday for it, top bloke!
