Just the other week I see on here a member uploaded a video of him driving like a twit, round his local housing estate. Then in the next breath, he's going to enter this 'creation' in the MG Metro cup!

Elite Veteran Posts: 978 Location: Walderslade, Kent | I filmed it from the hard shoulder. My friend was driving with full concentration on the road and his eyes on the mirrors... and I was filming from the passenger seat keeping an eye on the lane in the very distance checking for emergency vehicles.. We're responsible adults and it was our choice, yes, it was wrong, and yes, I know that the emergency lane is for EMERGENCY vehicles, but we used it with due care and full attention... it's my friends license at risk and we passed 3 motorway cameras knowing this, we'll keep an eye on the post. You only live once and this was an event that might only occur once.. Thanks for your concern, though. Edited by mini-mad-craig 15/4/2012 9:36 PM

Events Organiser MP Admin Posts: 1923 Location: Somerset | Tbh, driving like a bellend risking peoples lives in a housing estate at 80 odd mph is careless. Driving 15mph on the hard shoulder during a quiet time of the day WITH i might add, the support of 60 odd metro's also travelling at 30 mph. IS NOT CARELESS. Yes it was a world record attempt and it was a bloody fun day! Whoever thinks this deserves a complain and/or flaming should set their own bollocks on fire. Good day!

drive it like its hired | Friend of mines dad drives his scammel all over the country on the hard shoulder. It only does 25mph and is the best place for it. Never encounters any problems even though the highway code states all vehicles on the motor need to do 50mph iirc

Elite Veteran Posts: 978 Location: Walderslade, Kent | We were just out there to have fun mate... sure it was irresponsible and possibly a stupid thing to do, but we're not mindless tw*ts and respect the road and motorway especially for the dangers that can become apparent at any time... especially being in a Mini! If we saw any genuine danger we wouldn't have done it, but as you can see all of the Metro drivers gave at least a 2 second gap and were all hesitant before driving off the shot of the camera incase we needed to break into the convoy because of anything coming up ahead in the hardshoulder, I can see why it might be considered stupid because it was... but sometimes you gotta do stupid things to have a good time. Try and enjoy the video and the Metro convoy for what it was because it was one hell of an achievement for everybody on the forum, and I'm glad we were given the opportunity to capture it on film for sure.
