I planning on converting my R100 1.1 from SPI to MPI without replacing the original flywheel to the updated MEMS 1.9 version. I plan to do do this by using the engine loom of an early plastic manifold K16. This allows for the use of the earlier crankshaft position sensor and the earlier ignition coil at the front of the car. I chose the plastic manifold as it shares the idle air valve of the 8 valve manifold. With this I am hoping to run a the 1.4 ECU that belongs with the loom. My question is though has anyone ran a 1.4 ECU on a 1.1 or any K series ECU on a smaller engine capacity than it was designed for? Has anyone encounted any problems doing this? I must admit I am slightly concerned as to the idling quality I would get because of the air capcity difference between them and I have personally seen a 1.8 Zetec in a Fiesta Si being run on a 1.6 ECU and it would hunt when idling and eventually stall!
