Hi,

A while ago I bought an adapter from a forum member to allow the standard metro speedo cable to be used with a PG1 box. Its a short metal tube that has a thread in one end to screw onto the PG1 box. I get how you screw it on to the box but I can't figure out how you secure the cable inside it?

The inner square section fits into the PG1 fitting but I can't see how the outer is held into the adapter? On the metro cable there's a fitting that slides down over the the end section and squashes the end fitting to hold it in place but this wont fit inside the PG1 adapter.

Anyone else using one of these or any ideas please?

Not sure, but I've got what you need Got the upper cable from a early metro, and the lower half that connects to the pg1. All fits together as it should. Should be pictures in the for sale thread

I sold it to you

The o-rings on the outside of the r65 cable, hold it inside that tube

Aah! - I wondered who it was. I checked through my messages aswell but it threw me where you've changed your username.

I'll have another look on Sunday.

Thanks

I finally got round to having a look at this earlier...

There aren't any O rings on the cable of my R100??

I've uploaded some pics to assist. (click on them for larger pics)

There's just a plastic sleeve that goes over the actual cable end and a conical cup that slides over the cable. That's all.

Should there be O rings on this?

Thanks

Yes, there should be two O rings.
But even with the O rings the adaptor I bought did not fit.
I used a thin aluminium sheet, the I wound around the speedo cable to make it fit.
So grab yourself a can of beer, drink it but don't throw away the can!

Thanks for the idea!

I find it strange that the O rings are missing from mine. The car was bog standard when I bought it and was owned from new by an old bloke who deffinately wouldn't have worked on it. I can't understand why they aren't there?

Were there different types fitted on rover 100s? Mines an R reg if it makes a difference?

Your missing a small piece of cable that connects to the metal bit you have

Youce probably left it in the r65 box
