Hi all

After a search for a decent Mini... going to view many and coming back disapointed on my budget I've decided to get myself on the road in something a little different.

I had this idea a long time ago truthfully, but with my Mini savings well on their way, and turning 17, all that was left to do was get myself on the road... in a Mini! Obviously because of reasons mentioned above it wasnt to be, and so I made a visit to MetroPower and spent most of my weekends and spare time on there. From then on, I was pretty hooked. With the Rover on the road it gives me a decent car to run around in for a while, and also means I can get a Mini project (rather than a badly repaired MOT'd mess) and play with that, whilst still on the road.

So I checked the ebay ads, Pistonheads, Autotrader etc for weeks on ends... for both Rovers and Minis. Lots took my fancy, but when this was posted on... the car I saw everyday, locally, and for a super low reserve, I just had to make an offer! So I offered £350, and an hour later she was mine.

MOT'd till March,
TAX'd till August,
Alarm,
Immobiliser,
Rear seat belts,
Alloys,
Auxiliary heating,
Power Windows,
Sunroof.

And here she is.

So after she arrived home I couldnt do a lot other than have a good look over her. All seemed pretty perfect for the money I payed!

Once home she got a really, really good wash and then it was dark by 9.30 so not much else could be done.

I was at Gaydon Mini festival all weekend, and my convoy left at 9am on Friday so that we could start drinking early I got up at 7 and gave the car a really good hoover, t-cutted the left rear quarter damaged (looked good!) and also stickered up a little.

After an awesome weekend at Gaydon I came home and had a very long sleep! Whilst there we drove past a breakers, unplanned trip, but we stopped anyway. I found 6 Metros, one of which had the GTi spoiler I was after! Unfortunately, with no tools and knackered screws on the spoiler it was impossible to remove. I did get a set of headlamps (to be sprayed yellow) and a grille (for debadging) for £15 though.

Monday was Metro day!. The first thing to do was t-cut a few panels and get it looking a little tidier. I also removed the rubbing strip on the left hand side (which took 4 hours all in... the rubber was annoying, but it was well worth it) After lots of t-cutting, you'd never know it was there. I may colour code it, or maybe just leave it off.

I bought some of the MG flag badges for the rear quarters from Ebay for £5, so they were fitted.

look on ebay, best to buy a full cat-back system as there only cheap and your probably find its one piece system on it if it is the factory one so you will need to cut it off

nice buy.

Off to a flying start with a 114GSi fully loaded! Saves retro fitting all the extras. I think the GSi is the only rover 100 to have the rev counter wire and no rev counter.

check scrapyards or ebay for centre caps. (and a rev counter dial set)

Cheers guys!!! Today I completely stripped the interior and all seems perfect!! No rust or anything to be seen anywhere! Gave everything a very good clean and it looks a lot better for it now!!

The right side (with the rubber strip glue) has only received 1 layer of polish so far. The roof has had a couple, but needs more!!

My cameras also rubbish at night time hence the shakey photo. I'll get my dads out sometime for some lovelies.

Theres a few imperfections to be fixed on the paint, they're winding me up a LOT and I cant enjoy the car knowing that they're there.

I'm not sure about the camber, and will look into it.
