when i bought the car i was told the clutch will not go for long so how easy it is to change i can you a lot of job on car but this is my first metro and dont have a manual as yet so is it an easy job or get a garage to do it

The clutch isn't that bad to change, you just need to disconnect the hub assmeblies, remove the drive shafts, remove the battery, subframe arm that holds the gearbox in and then pull the gearbox to the side to gain access to the clutch. The only problem that you most likely encounter is that when removing the retaining bolts of the subframe arm the captive nuts will be seized to the bolts and break free of the retaining plates so you will have to hold the nuts with a screw driver(wedged in the side) or spanner(once the retaining plates have been removed) apart from that there shouldn't be any other problem.
