I was debating getting a new lid in the right colour or current one resprayed, but I think my decision has now been made for me. With treatment on the hole when drilled and on the thread of the screw this may not of happened. You should always use double sides sticky trim foam for number plates in \ \ / / fashion and not - - - as otherwise water could get trapped. Diagonal strips means it can run off.

Should see the state of mine. Alot worse than that. Welded a plate on and drilled 2 holes to get the number plate on. It fell off everytime i closed the boot. Got a mint boot but cant be arsed to spray and fit it

You think lol all new cars will have the pressings and plastic screw fixings in place as all registration plates are meant to be screwed to the vehicle so they are secure as adhesive tape deteriorates resulting in the plates dropping off. There are a few manufactures(well dealers)s that just stick plates on still. As mentioned if drilling in to any metal panel you ideally need to apply waxoil etc to help prevent the panel from corroding.
