Turns out my MOT expired last month
Managed to book one for today, but I think it could fail on the passengers washer jet -.-

Failed

They are going to quote me properly on Monday but he's thinking 600-700

Things to be concerned about:

006) The subframe bracket is spilt, it's right on the curve. Any suggestions I can pass on? Don't want to teach a grandmother to suck eggs, but someone might know of some easy way to fix that.

017) Apparently hydrocarbon's can be a sign of HGF

Will be asking them to order Ralph's front anti-roll bar drop links

What do you guys think?

For the high emissions I would put new spark plugs, leads, dizzy cap, rotor arm and maybe a ECU CTS.

Brakes could have air in or maybe need a new master cylinder, someone on here must have one they can send you? See if you can get it turned around within a week.

Any welders on here local to you?

Front brake valve leaking is probably why the pedal creeps down..

Had plugs, leads, dizzy cap and rotor arm recently

The left brake valve is definitely leaking

Little choice other than letting them do the work really.
He was trying hard to get me to scrap it, but as he said, I'm crazy

PoL is looking impossible
The garage that MOTed pretty much don't want to do it and it they will, going to be two weeks
I've spoken to a Metro welder and he said he'd take a look but if the rear subframe mounts are going (as far as I know they arent), that I might as well scrap it.

Only other option is to borrow and weld and try my hand at seam welding things I can cut out of the white one :/

Need to catch up a bit
She now has fully working remote central locking and electric windows (switches are not illuminated at the moment)
Plus a load of other little things I've forgotten about

Last weekend the interior came out and got the welding done for the MOT

Untitled by pqhf5kd, on Flickr
Can see a patch by the left rear wheel and the left sill is all welded and sealed up

Untitled by pqhf5kd, on Flickr
Here is the awesome welding done previous to my ownership
It's all solid as it was welded from the outside by not a clean job by any stretch
Left it for now but reinforced the right hand, rear seat mount

I'll get a picture of the subframe bracket tonight. Wasn't a problem welding that in the end.

So far fitted:
Front anti-roll bar stabiliser links
Front anti-roll bar bushes
Front subframe mounts
New drivers CV joint
Down pipe and CAT off

Left to do:
Replace engine bay brake valve and all fluid
Replace passengers CV joint
Attach replacement hubs with new bearings, both sides
Swap brake discs (replacement hubs are solid)
New down pipe and CAT on

So Wednesday night we got the CV joints and hubs on and the brake valve off
Last night got the brake valve on, exhaust on, interior in and brakes bled

Was booked in for MOT at 10 this morning but apparently she's already passed!

Looking forward to that the most
LSD and UJ & polybushed linkage should give a real nice feel

Going in the right direction with this, torsen diff is an awesome upgrade, what gearset are you going for? The linkage mods really do make a huge difference! Makes the gearchange so positive and precise its unreal! No play whatsoever...
Keep up the good work

Edit: have fun chopping bits from the mgf frame. Was easily the worst part of the conversion. while its all out you wont regret getting an mgf rack, tres, steering arms and bottom balljoints.

Here's my Cam locking tool
Any problems before we use it today?

Old engine coming out

Dollies make life much easier

I know the GTi rack is different to the standard Metro one, but that look's similar to the Yellow band band

And she's alive
Spent an hour or so driving around last night, right through the rev range

Work to do, in rough order of important:
Find new ignition/5AS earth
Fix key start (currently jumping the battery to the starter)
Grind the CAT/downpipe flange down to miss the linkage
Find another gearbox, 5th is hard to get into and reverse is impossible. I believe this is the could be an upside down Top Synco Assembly?
Wire in 5AS features (C/L, alarm, indicators)

I don't think there's a synchro on reverse. Linkage is more likely to be the issue, or someone's c**ked up the selector mechanism on reassembly - that's why I check all gears can be selected before I deem a box rebuild complete as it's easily done...

I should be stripping a box in the next few weeks, so will see if the 5th synchro can be put in upside down.

Even from under the car, with no linkage
1 - 4 are fine, 5th doesn't pull out as far as 1st and 3rd and reverse wont go in at all

http://www.rovertech.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=144238
Suggestions here it could be the syncro

I didn't think reverse had one, so assuming it's the 5th?

Will send you a PM
