Got a new project on the go in the form of this big beaut.

My parents have had their Peugeot Boxer motorhome for about 6-7 years now and after a big Mot last year including 3 weeks worth of welding and a shagged engine, they have bought a newer van. Which means that me and my dad have got just over 2 months to upgrade and swap the interior over from the old van to the new, before we go away in it.

I finished work at half 1 so thought it get cracking with it as my dad had already started yesterday.

Aim for today was to finish stripping out the panel lining and check what it was like under the floor, as one of the previous owner has screwed straight through the shell, which unfortunately is to be expected.

Few general shots of the outside, feel free to design a vinyl scheme for us

Took me around 45minutes to get the rest of the panels out and to get the floor up, and as i thought there are a good few rusty holes in the floor due to the screws and it was covered in dirt and crap under there

The interior walls were also filthy as expected so i cleaned those with some APC, Megs slide lock brush and a couple of mf's

Tried to get a 50/50

They came up a real treat which made it all worth it

Next job is to grind back the rust, treat it with deox gel or weld it and get it painted and protected.

Then after that we need to make a propper floor for it and get insulating the walls - hopefully get that done by the end of the week.

We've already got the interior and everything, will be changing the upholstery and flooring etc but itll pretty much stay the same

Ill get some pics of the old van when we move it tomorrow if my dad hasnt demolished it much.

Its a really nice interior to be honest, has a nice sized shower and toilet at the end of the van with the usual bits and bobs, cant wait to get it all in and made more our own - just gotta get on the insurance then

Yeah and my aunt and uncle.

Did abit more today, wire brushed the screw holes on the inside and underneath on the floors and they came up fine - just surface rust.

So plan is to hammer the metal flat and weld the holes up and apply the appropriate protection and paint

Dad started stripping the other van aswell

Yeah and my aunt and uncle.

That's going to be cosy when you all get frisky of an evening.

Seriously though Pandy, you astound me - I dislike cleaning cars at the best of times, let alone the inside of a van that's going to be covered up soon! Fair play to you.

For rust removal, you want one of these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/3-Twist-Knot-Wire-Brush-Rust-Remover-for-Angle-Grinder_W0QQitemZ110501239513QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_3?hash=item19ba631ad9
Used one on the underside of the ZT to remove the surface rust on subframes, inspector man was most impressed. Only problem is they send crap everywhere, and I ended up with a few broken bristles in my shirt...

Dont worry me and Sara sleep in the tent outside

TBH mate that is overkill on this at the minute, the only rust is due to some fool screwing through the floor. Will look into them for the 'tro though looks like a beast

And i realise i am mad/sad/crazy for doing it but i wanted my dad to have the best possible base to start with and i do like a good turnaround

Its also going to need a full machine polish as the paint is bloody aweful in places Think it might take me a while

Will that be in the tent, or with your Aunt and Uncle?

Or am I thinking of something completely unrelated?

We're trying our hardest lol going to get some bits tomorrow for the floor, have found a supplier for the wallboards just need to send them a piece of what we have to match to, got to order the hecki-lite and windows so will have to wait for them until we can insulate and board the roof and sides. In the mean time though we can strip the old van and get that all ready

plus my dads 25 was losing water, turns out the bottom of his rad has detatched from the core so that's another job to do lol

How on earth are you going to fit the contents of the peugeot in that wee fiat dude?
I might be wrong, but the fiat looks well smaller?

It's deceptive mate, both in essence the same van, I think they came off the same line along with the Citroën relay. It's a LWB the same as the pug, the only bigger option was the extra LWB :-)

got all the insulation today so going to make a start on that.

You can have it but it will be empty with holes in the sides lol

Did abit of insulation over the past few evenings, used compressed polystyrene for the roof and wool insulation on the sides. Both the roof and sides will (as pictured) be vapour-sealed, followed by ply lining then the wallboard

Hopefully get the materials for the floor tomorrow so can make a start, tough bit if working out where the holes need to be cut in the body and floor for thinks like the fridge, cooker, electric hookup etc

The sides

The roof

And it didnt stay too clean for long

Thanks
Andy

Not quite mate its not far off though - really should update this with more pics.

Parents are going to buy a new fridge today, and we really need to get to the DVLA to change the usage over as theres only 3 weeks til we go away in it lol

The door window is painted and in, got the long window on the drivers side to paint and fit, two heki lights for the roof to fit, the interior furnishings are pretty much in now, got to plumb the water pipes in, gas pipes for the cooker/fridge etc, wire the electrics in, vinyls for the exterior are here, half of the wall boarding is done so its starting to look like a camper now!

Its got like a "swish" graphic for the sides (towards the rear) and little ones for the top front corners

We can always redo them if they aren't very good as they were hardly expensive.

As opposed to the dark green carpet on the walls and ceiling in the old van the new wall board makes a massive difference!

Ill try and get all the pictures together today and get them uploaded

Dad keeps saying he wants to sell it and do another one already lol

Its done (99%) and ready for hols

Few bits still to do and need to redo a few things like gaps etc but its very much liveable and looks way bigger compared to when it was carpet lined!

I will have some pics very soon, then it'll be time to find me a van
