The epic moment that your friends come round in their ST's and your 1996 Metro is a good few inches lower

The mini needs a mk1 grille and could you have parked them any closer! :o Thought the mini you had as a project was like a barn find? This doesn't look like it?

It does, try telling him that though.. he wants to leave it standard because he thinks it's sacrilege to change a Cooper.. I disagree completely. The red one is my other halves, mine is in other projects mate, looks nothing like that one at the mo!!

Got some GTI side skirts on Ebay so that's the most recent update really. SORNED her last night and she's in the garage now. When she returns to the road she'll have a 1.4 twin cam.

Looking to get a few new panels and some bits sprayed properly since theres a few bits I'm not happy with at the moment.

Rear bumper off to fit her in the garage... with quarter of an inch to spare

GTI Sideskirt

PRIMED

Couple of layers...

Ran out of paint and had no lacquer down the garage

How she sleeps

And shiney shiney

Thank you mate Was quite low but surprisingly fine around here, never had any probs with it. Got it pumped up last week, silky smooth ride now in comparison

Noooopers! she's my baby!! 16ving!

Strip down started today. Got the front end off and the rad/exhaust manifold removed along with a few other bits in the engine bay.

Going to be buying me new engine end of the month. Can rent an engine hoist for 40 quid for the weekend, done a few Minis without one and damnnnn have i regretted it after.. not gonna risk it again. My dad did himself in with 2 discs removed and has trouble with it daily... not worth it

Also got a quote from a local body shop who I know do nice work from some mini bits they did for us. Full front end respray (wings, bonnet, front bumper) right rear panel behind the arch - spraying the whole panel to get a perfect match after I weld in the new arch, rather than trying to blend in a patch around the arch... 5 doors has its plus points, and the tip of my spoiler painted for 250 We have to supply paint, but I'm well happy with that

Sure is! 16v with the CVT box was an interesting first thought soon changed my mind though

Nice day at the garage, got some stuff done

Got the boot off ready to get my new one resprayed. Old one had a few dints that I wasnt happy with

Then a mate turned up in his celiiiiicaaa to help me tackle the engine

got it all ready to come out, just gotta lift it out once I get the hoist down the garage. Was planning to do it today but it got dark real quick

did lots of cleaning though and painting of some bits

No real progress... just a change in plans. Seriously considering going VVC straight off now...

Alex (scarfey) Has been a total legend and posted me his R14GSI badge which I've been after for a LONG time... thanks a lot for that mate!! nice rare badge and he gave it to me for free... stuff like that keeps forums and scenes running strong
