We have moved...two doors down, the new unit is bigger, dryer, warmer and better in many ways.
so friday night we got a few mates down and tidied the place up a bit, then saturday we moved all the stuff over.
pictures(some are crap phone pics)

Matt cleans off the loose paint on the back wall while everone else makes a start painting the other walls

Bing stands around stuffing his face while everyone else works hard

This working is hard work

Heater on to dry the paint

Getting there

Me and Bing then went and got pizza

The remains

Matt barks his orders "put that fu*king camera down and get to work"

Finished for the night.

Saturday

Tools and spares are moved in

few car in

More cars in

Closing up the old unit

More updates to come.

How many guys do you have sharing? Looks to be a lot of cars in there! Do you have space for storage and moving around?

I'm jel of all the booze, I guess my place is within cycling distance but through unlit country lanes

There's 2 long term stayers, me and a mate who bring a turd of a mini down, the others are guests. The black TF belongs to Mr. Bing and will be going this weekend after an ordeal of a clutch change. The green R100 belongs to Brother K and will be going this weekend too hopefully. It's a lot more spacious than it appears in that picture.

Great unit! Glad to see some metros being kept inside away from the rain!

How are you changing the clutch on the MGF? Currently doing one myself and not to sure if i'm doing it the easiest way, I've already removed the LH hub, drive shaft, top subframe arm and slave cylinder mount and hoping theres enough room to slide it over about 8" to access the clutch!

Fantastic unit, looks to be a good strong old building. What was the building originally used for? How much is the rent?

We changed the clutch by simply unplugging everything on the engine and dropping the entire subframe gearbox and engine assembly on the floor in one piece using trolley jacks, then dragged it all out from under the car. Two axle stands at their longest reach under the rear jacking points of the car give enough clearance to drag the engine out from behind the car. We then split the engine and gearbox and lifted the engine out of the subframe rather than trying to remove the gearbox as this would mean having to dismantle the suspension and loose the gearbox oil. I'm not sure you can do it any other way purely because there is so little room to manoeuvre things around.

The unit is part of a former weaving mill, one of many dotted around Lancashire. This one has been divided up into 50 or so smaller units all with their own doors and metered electricity supply, some being 3 phase. The electric is supplied on a commercial tariff so its cheap, think I've only paid about £4 while I've been there and we use electric fan heaters all the time. Its a great place with a good community amongst all the folks in the units, surprisingly Metro's are one of the most numerous cars in the place, we're not the only ones in the mill who have them! It costs around £275 a month.
