martin, if you can get the gearbox any cheaper it could be worth it. just give the input shaft a firm tug up and down to check for play in the bearings first. could still be worth having to send off for reconditioning as a 'spare' which you could then swap over when you wanted. all depends what your longterm plans are though. 216 / 416 box will need the top selector arm cutting off and swapping for a metro one. put the 2 boxes side by side and the difference is quite obvious. if the car the box came from was a hydraulic clutch version youll need to swap the clutch arm and remove the slave cylinder bracket from the box casing too. |
