Hi all,new to forum..fitting a 160vvc in a Rover 100(Ascot) for sprints and hillclimbs local to Bristol.Engine went in OK with benefit of adapter plates, but fixing g/box to chassis subframe/crossmember???Picture of Ascot "sleeper" on line shows a very different fitting than anything we"ve got,and we have both cars and havent thrown anything away!We seem to be missing a vital component here, but what is it (MGF?) Help...

Hi,thanks for your reply, its not a Metro, its a Rover 100,and i think this is significant,as it was fitted with the K series engine. Having read the "Ascot sleeper" story more closely I get the impression that if you go down the PG1 gearbox route,as in the ZR and not the one in the Rover 100,then some fabrication and welding will be required

The metro comes with a K-series as well as an A-series. Doesn't make much difference with it being a R100 compared to a metro.
I and others have fitted a PG1 without welding or fabrication. And I own a metro not a R100.
Oh well.. never mind

Hi,didnt realise that the Metro had both A series and K series, been careful not to refer to it as a Metro after nearly making an expensive mistake when about to purchase some Metro wheels, the PCD is not the same,Rover 100 is 3.75,which it shares with the MGF and pretty much nothing else!..unless you go back to Herald,Spitfire and Formula Ford,so have bought a set of adapters which give me some options on other PCDs.Plan to purchase a "Plug and Play" loom from Talon Sportscars in next few days..so hope to brainstorm them re.G/box..many thanks for your input,I"ll keep you posted..Target is Llandow sprint on 13th May..suddenly its getting much nearer!

Can I ask where your getting your info? Metro K-series wheels/alloys will fit a R100 their the same fitment and so are MGF's. The A-series wheels wont fit a K-series.
There's a few on here (well on that facebook shit page) that can do you a loom, and probably cheaper than Talon.
If you weren't across the bridge and in sunny south wales like me, id come help you out. I've fitted VVC's in metro's and R100's.
PG1 isn't worth the hassle imo. I liked the metro/R100 box a lot more. Accelerates a lot quicker but PG1 is a stronger box.
Used to go to Llandow to watch the drifting

Ah! well info. is mostly internet, and reading threads of what others have done..found that Mike Satur had produced adapters for MGF hubs so purchased these,my good friend,(and mechanic),and I had already sprinted the MGZR160 over last 18 months and thought this would be a good idea,,bought the "Ascot" nr.Reading about 3 months ago.The car will never go on the road,we have already built a trailer, specifically for it.It will be stripped out,one seat, start will be on/off switch and press a button,no immobiliser, lights or any other electrics, although possibly wipers at Llandow!! By way of "painting a picture",my first race was at Lydden Hill in 1975 and been at it ever since, off and on,Formula Vee,Formula Ford,Locost,Formula First,Puma and ZR,I"m 65 and Roger (the spanners) is 70..this will probably be the last gig..cheers for your thoughts
