Hi Tony,
From my personal experience I'd go with a diaphagm type over a piston or sequential type for noise purposes on a car with stock boost.
I once spent a small fortune on a very nicely finished 'Bailey Motorsport' piston type dump valve and it sounded like my grandma letting one go. I swapped it with a mate for his tatty diaphragm one and was happy with the swap.
