after owning a few metros i finally bought myself a very nice one which has had the engine converted to 1.8. i am not doing too much at the moment other than looking for some very nice wheels and cleaning up little bits, but in a few months work will start. if this car hasn't already been on here, heres the spec so far:

Engine Spec:

- 1.8 135 Solid cam (milage unknown) running 136bhp 140 ft-lb (Dyno printout to prove)
- Z&F remapped ecu (lots of popping and banging)
- BMC CDA airbox with silicone elbow
- MGZR Exhaust manifold and downpipe to custom decat.
- Magma wrap exhaust manifold
- Sportex centre and back to 2 1/2 inch exit.
- R65u Gearbox, brand new clutch 5k ago.
- MGF radiator with Slim line fan wired to switch on dash.
- MGW racing quickshifter.
- Chassis/Suspension/brakes Spec;
- Front and rear anti roll bars with polybushed drop links

- New rear radius arms with droop stop spacers and Droop stops (genuine parts)
- MGF Front hydro cans and stock rears (10mm cut of rods all round, approx 400 psi)
- New CV joints and boots
- New rear wheel cylinders
- New rear subframe mounts
- Fully undersealed and spray wax in the cavity's.

Interior Spec;
- Metro GTi silverstone cloth seat, front and rear.
- R114 GTa door cards
- Metro GTi red seat belts (full set)
- Metro GTi B pillar covers
- Black plastic trim including parcel shelf (very rare)
- Personal Steering wheel with hub boss (can include stock wheel)
- Rev counter (kept 110mph clocks to retain genuine miles)
- Citroen AX centre console.

Exterior Spec;
- Metro GTi front and rear bumper with splitter (rear bumper brand new 2 months ago)
- Metro GTi Side skirts
- Metro GTi rear spats
- Metro GTi rear spoiler
- Metro GTi side mouldings
- MGZR clear side repeaters (genuine parts)
- Metro GTi MPI alloys painted gunmetal grey
- Replacement rear arches welded.
- Partial respray (both full sides, bonnet, skirts, petrol cap) Only roof and tailgate on orignal paint.

painted the calipers

Replacing rear brake shoes lead to replacing handbrake cable and brake adjusters

least there is no rust

also took a chance on some HID's, look miles better than yellow bulbs

also had some fly eye laying round so thought i would see what they look like

Looks good after a wash too

Thanks hopefully in the next few months the engine will be swapped for a turbo. not quite sure yet though as it runs beautifully. wish it still had those wheels! haha

Those were team dynamics, they were nice but kept catching the arches so went for gti mpi's instead.

The exhaust started to be a pain and rattle every time i slowed down so i decided to go full stainless. ordered myself a mg tf manifold and downpipe new for £53! and bought benskoot's 2.25" cobra exhaust will be getting the tf downpipe modified and the whole exhaust fitted on Wednesday.

also did a start on the carbon wrapping, got myself some dash inserts

also finished the roof rack and tested on the rover

quick polish and drive out to see another old rover

decided to do something different to the gti interior so stripped it all out and tried some bucket seats and some other little bits, ill just let the pics explain

also picked up a set of comps, not fitting yet due to doing the turbo conversion soon and not sure what colour the car is getting repainted

Great work mate, good to see some good money and hard work going into a Metro and a change of direction from the normal. I like the colour though, it's unusual for a GTi rep

Really lovely looking car that. It's a credit to you you.

As you've changed the trim, do you fancy selling me your GTI interior?

unfortunately someone already had dibs on the interior,

all other parts ive donated to a friends metro to help him along with his build

im currently looking for a good turbo engine to forge. the plan is to side mount the turbo to where the battery is giving me more room to play up front hopefully running a intercooler instead of a charge cooler.

going to be a long build but worth it

need ideas for the respray though...do i stay the same colour, midnight purple or celestial blue?

If you change colour, I'd keep it Rover, get a new VIN plate stamped up with code etc.

Carribean Blue, Nordic Blue, Cherry Red Pearlescent? Polynesian?

I really like the color, keep it!

Was that color only available in Rover 100 Ascots? Is exactly the same as Rover 200 BRM?
