Found something very worrying the other day basically my rear subframe has gone rotten and has nearly snapped only thing keeping it from going all the way is the strenthing bar and its giving the rear wheels a stupid amount of negative cmaber from where its bending but anyway redgrave sorted me one out quickly thank god so ive painted it to stop the same thing happening again and will be swapping it over at the weekend, also putting new raduis arm bearings in

Rusty ass subframe

Replacment subframe cleaned and painted

little update got the new rear frame on now after spending the whole weekend on it a few weeks back but was all worth it specially when i seen the old frame it was fubar! All done now though and the backend feels much nicer and tighter in the bends.

Aswell as the new frame i put in new radius arm bearings in both arms as they were both nackered anyway, also cut off 10mm on the rods.

While the car was in the air i decided to checkout a annoying rubbing noise coming from under the car and it turned out to be the cat was rubbing on the heat shield due to the rubber bolt thing that holds the front of the shield on had broken off so instead of removing the whole thing i cut it in half and put the rear part back on to give the linkage a little more protection

only got a few pics as i forgot to take more

How it spent its weekend

Old nackered frame so glad i changed it!

Didn't take much to bend, also old radius arm bearings

New bearings built up

Well seems as the weather was nice a couple of weeeks ago i waxed the car for the first time this year, forgot how nice the paint comes up on it.

Painted the cam cover aswell and my mgf brakes.

Latest mod is a rear cage that i drove down to mundays to pick up, all was well until tried to head home when the car wouldn't start from the key but would bump easy, it turned out to be the mfu as it was clicking when turned the key all the way so at least knew what it was so i was on edge for the 2 hour drive home but it made now just need to find a mfu and hopefully will be all sorted

Painted brakes just need disks now and spacers.

Updated engine bay pic

And the cage all bolted in today.

Thanks for looking.

Gone for another interior update by changing my steering wheel over from my personal to a leather mgzr wheel only had to little mods to get the horn working but was nice easy and looks a lot smarter now, pics below.

Used the horn ring from the standard r100 wheel for the horn to work

Cut the old connector off and put a spade connector on to link to the horn ring job done

Before and after

Nice work and looks a well sorted car now with a nice shell, i would get the car rustproofed underneath with dinitrol under body wax, its cracking stuff much better than waxoyl,
and yr car will last yrs, bought mine off fleabay in aerosol, i did all the subframe and box sections, keeps it mint. would be a shame to let yrs go its a nice car.

Thanks mate happy it got noticed at the meet I'm hoping to take it off the road early next month so I can work on it through out the winter, thinking 160 vvc sort out any rust and body work that needs doing and maybe some more interior changes

I'll have a look into it I was just going to underseal it with waxoyl and get the cavity stuff as well for the inside if the arches.

Got it on the dyno last night and it made 100bhp with 107 torques

Hoping to get it off the road within the next couple of weeks so the winter doesn't ruin it and get a 160 vvc in!

Right little update, it is now of the road for winter so i bought a zr 1.4 5dr for my run around but only been driving it for 2 weeks and i already miss my tro

Won't be really doing anything to tro until after xmas/new year but i've got some big plans for it and have already started collecting parts for it. pics below

Nice and wrapped up

Daily zr

MPI engine loom

Genuine rear droop stops and spacers

Mgf calipers/carriers with black diamond drilled and groved disks and 5mm spacers, will be using standard pads for now

Sportex cat back with 2 inch tip welded on from todd which i picked today and painted hammerite silver

220 Coupe black half leathers already fitted before it was off the road

Stainless steel battery bracket which i got for the zr as it was missing but it fits the tro so putting it on that

Thanks

Not done anything to the car since it's been off the road bar run it up every weekend to keep the engine on check for when I sell it on.

Bought a few more parts lately that's about it

Front and rear arbs to be painted silver, had to wait 18 days for delivery for these wasn't all that happy about it!

Rest of the mpi conversion parts now have everything needed

Got bored last weekend so polished the front end comes up really nice

Decided to brave the cold and get the interior stripped out to check for any rust that needs sorting and guess what I found some, needs a few patches at the front jacking points and inner sill, on the seat support brackets and a couple of patches around the tyre well.

The sound deading sponge stuff was soaking wet so I removed it all and binned the lot!

Is there anyone around the midlands area who could come out and weld it all up for me? Pics below to show what needs doing.

I've marked where the repairs are needed.

you need a good poke round that floor mate my car looked far better than that before I started stabbing at it, if I was closer I would do it for you but I would say remove the sill covers and see what they are hiding too

Yeah a few of those areas will very likely grow a lot larger once you start looking for clean metal
