New user Posts: 20 | If i was to put my gti up for sale, how much do you guys reckon i should ask for it?47500 miles completely original even has the phillips radio cassette. At the mo it still has the 185 dunlop tyres which im going to change for some 175s and put it through its mot.RUST wise it has a little bit on the onm off the rear arches and some bubbling on the A pillar plus the odd stone chip here and there.I would upload some photos but i cant see how to attach them.

Regular Posts: 188 Location: West Yorkshire | That awful grill isn't standard - I'd take that off, get an indicator lense and find a rub strip for the rear arch and you'll get more interest and money. Prices vary quite a lot - I saw a pretty much mint 1 owner example sell for £1000 last month on car and classic - it was a good bargain. This may give you an idea of overpricing, it keeps getting reduced and has been for sale a good long while- http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C601437 (I'd reckon its worth £800-1100 tops) If your going to do all the above I'd keep it and enjoy it. Even with a little "first time" rust, as long as it's genuine it' fetch good money. Rubstrips missing on the rear need to be sourced which is hard.

drive it like its hired | What you have to bear in mind is, saying it just has some bubbles on the arches gets no where with anyone serious about metros. Its plainly obvious its had some arch work (probably a filler and respray job) Reason being the rubbing strips are missing or havent been removed properly and the 1/4 paint has clearly faded (cant have been a good job?)

Veteran Posts: 335 Location: York, tis Cold Up North! | Hi I agree with others here about the front grille - horrible. Presumably it is an SPI model with no 5AS immobiliser fitted and SPI wheels. Think you would get £900 - £1500 if you do a little tidying up. Just my view but I like the colour which will attract some buyers I think. MG

New user Posts: 20 | I agree about the grill it's already off,now i just have to sort out the holes that i now have. Thanks for the replies.I'm going to have it as our second car whilst my mini is having some body work done. Petrolhead-i spoke to the chap i bought it off and he had no work done on the rear whilst he had it.The other rear quarter looks the same.Maybe its something to do with it being Sat in his garage for the last 11 years?I dunno.I'll see what its like after a good clean and polish.

Regular Posts: 188 Location: West Yorkshire | Must admit, it shows all the signs of a past paint job. Metros rust quickly so I wouldn't be surprised it if was done before 11 years ago, as it would still of being 14 years old. That rear trim on the left being missing, the right side trim looks like its being removed before as well due to it being rippled. It's not a bad thing in general, just make sure those arches are metal and not full of P38. Edited by The Lawman 6/5/2015 7:04 PM

drive it like its hired | You just have to accept its not untouched and deal with it. People do buy these, tart them up and claim barn finds

drive it like its hired | No problem with you making money and saving a nice car. Just there is always more than meets the eye with gti's.
