okay plan today was to go to ashford work on the gti,

now the 1.1s isnt working,

and i dnt no whats up..

any ideas where to start?

we have similar probs with our 1.1 first thing check dizzy cap sometimes the center electrode either wears away of falls to bits it will still start and run but wont run well or start easily if it still wont start put your foot to the floor and keep turning it over this usually gets ours started!

well after pumpin the gas a few times the car starts to stink of petrol.

I'd check to see if you have a healthy spark at the plugs, it sounds like you have fuel coming through. Don't bother flooring the throttle, as you will only flood the engine making starting harder.
