I didn't have one up the unit. I didn't have any other way of getting home.

Wow, that metro looks mint man!! Id keep it original if I was you, but thats just my opinion. Not that often you see an early model like that in that condition. Great car.

Long time since an update. It failed the MOT last week on a few things.
I have swapped the rear subframe for a K series one, some of the captive nuts stripped when I put the rear suspension back together last time. Got it all back together now.
I've bought some brand new rear brake cylinders, flexy hoses and shoes, so will be fitting that lot when it turns up. I've dropped the back down a bit again too. Not quite as low as it was before, but just to level it out and sit nicely on the new wheels

I have the hubs in work today to get them machined to take the new wheels. The centrebore is too big and the wheels dont fit over them. Then it'll be ready to put in for a re-test.

After the MOT im planning on getting a K&N filter element, stage 1 inlet manifold and carb needle to suit. That'll sort out the running, its not right because of the exhaust.
Future plans are to sort the dent in the passenger side wing and maybe a set of roller rockers.

Will get some pics once its sitting on the new wheels.

Got some bargain brake bits. Fiver for this lot (rear cylinders, shoes and new retaining springs) and some brand new front hoses

Well I smacked it When I first got out to see the damage it looked like the biggest dent in the world but looking at these pictures make it look small. Theres not actually much damage, its just it was such a minter

absolutley GUTTED doesn't even come close. I was due to take it to the Retro Rides Awards evening next Tuesday too.

Yeah. Looking at it, I don't think it'll be noticable once a new plate is on. Don't want to touch it really coz I only seem to make it worse when it comes to bodywork!

Ah, just noticed this. Thanks Jon, that bit wasn't damaged, its the lower valance bit behind the numberplate. Its hidden so I havent done anything about it yet, although the paint is cracked so I will need to seal it before it starts rotting.

I've got a new bumper and grille on it now though.

Heres a picture that someone took at the RetroRides awards night, complete with dent

Heres it with the new bits on

Got some goodies

Also on the shopping list is a 12G295 head and 1.3:1 Roller tip rockers. Just gone onto 3 days at work and am saving for a month in the states, so might be a while till I get round to fitting this lot and getting it rolling roaded.

Cheers Ralph
When I put the new inlet on, do you recommend I bother plumbing the manifold heating in? Will it make any difference at all?
Looking forward to getting more bits for this and showing it some love.
I bought and fitted all new ingition bits for it last week and it runs like a dream now.

i believe the only reason they had the water heating was for quicker warm up, so therefore choke needed for less time and better fuel economy, i think they are supposed to lose maybe 1 or 2 bhp.

so pends what ya want really. seen many plumbed or not plumed. personally if its not much bother i would have it heated.

Ive found they run better with the heating plumbed in, vizard says it helps fuel atomization and i'd believe any thing that man says!
