Thought I may as well chuck a thread up for it so whenever I need help I could post here rather than fill the tech area haha.

It's a 1.1Spi shell with no rust to note (for a change) slight bit of surface on the arches.
1.8T 75 lump
AdrianSi converted loom
ZandF ecu
Piper exhaust system
Fmic
Carbon enclosed filter.

Bought the car with the head gasket gone. Reused the head bolts and mls gasket to no joy, ordered an elastomer gasket and new head bolts and problem solved. I'd never bother with the mls again.

When driving as it spools it seems to fuel cut (probably due to the spi pump)
Going to fit an external pump so it there's any problems in the future it's easier to change than dropping the tank.
Few jobs to do:
Lower front intercooler as it sits behind number plate.
Find and fit front coilovers.
Fit fuel pump
Replace alternator (or it could be wiring)
Fit zr seats
Fit front and rear arbs

That's my list so far until I either get bored or break something.

It's so much better in person than pictures I find. I'm a sucker for a white metro though

Looks alright actually! Don't drive it on the SPI pump though, it WILL go bang

Yeah I only tried it around the block on the spi. I've seen many a zetec turbo and z20let detonate due to poor fuelling

Advice taken daz just ordered a 255 walbro. You boys know your magic beans, so I'd be a fool to ignore your advice

Cut a hole above the pump for easier access.

What's the easiest/best way to cut it? What sort of size hole do I need? How close is the take and wires underneath?

Mines was already cut out. But if you remove the seat and boot carpet you will see a circular mark iirc. There is only a small gap between the tank and floor so the pump and wires are just there.

Go very carefully with a drill and make a series of holes around the circle. Then cut round with some tin snips or something similar, then tidy the edges with a file or at least that's how I'd do it.

Thought while I was on a fag break in work I'd whip the front bumper off and get my alternator tested as it isn't working. Seems there's a tf rad fitted so can't withdraw it through the usual gap. I assume with the turbo lumps and tf rads you gotta take the rad out?

Buy a nibbler to do the fuel pump, makes cutting the hole a piece of piss and you only need to drill a 4mm hole.

Just drop the tank, you can do it with the subframe in, be careful if the filler neck is rotten though

Right pump should be here tomoro and ill have my alternator back from repair.
Really stuck with which wheels to go with. Not a fan of the 15's.
I do like gti mpi wheels in anthracite and I'm lead to believe their about the best for handling?

Pump is changed, wired into a switch on the dash.
Gauge pod wired in.
Carpets back in
Seats in
Pretty much all ready to roll now.
Just need some tf coilies and sort some wheels out

Took the metro home with me from work for the first time tonight.
Ill be honest I'm very impressed, as I came to the sliproad a focus st went past. Side by side start and just left him (in a plume of smoke)
Then at 130mph the intercooler pipe came off so I gracefully pulled back in to the inside lane.

Think I've a turbo issue as its a bit smoky.
Might try to get a cheap second hand one and send mine off to midland turbos and have it rebuilt.
In all seriousness though I thought my vvc went well but these turbo ones are something else.. Though I suppose the vvc is much more reliable.

Ill get it properly insured and upset of the few Honda boys in Merthyr

Hi

Any pictures of your front radiator setup and what they are off?

Struggling with a Radiator issue/fit.

My mate had the engine out of this weeks ago and put it in his ZR. Lasted couple of days before it blew up lol.
