I found this article in an old C&CC magazine - Dec 1983, I don't know if this is still relevant but I am sure someone will be pleased to advise..

There is also an article about the Metro Challenge that I will share if there is any interest.

Should we have all magazine scanned articles together? I've done 3/4 over the years?

Thanks! I used to buy CCC at the time - and had a 1.0HLE - but don't remember this article.

The theory of smaller volume = harder rate makes perfect sense.....

But his "maths" is flawed to say the least. Doubling the pressure on a gas, doesn't halve it's volume (not even close). It's annoyingly more complex, and can be solved with the "ideal gas law":

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ideal_gas_law

I learnt it in kg, not moles however... but it still works out the same tbh

Just me nit-picking tbh, lol

Adiabatic expansion and all that....

I did the gas valve mod on the race car years ago. To be honest the additonal complexity of adding initial gas charge pressure to the fluid pressure and ride height adjustments made getting the suspension even vaguely right was a real headache.

When i tried running 150psi gas charge the car was like a roller skate, but that was with shortened pushrods etc so it was already rather lower and stiffer than standard.
