I was a bit nonplussed as to the reason they ran this directly after that semi patriotic top gear

We are all crying for help! Lol

They still bang on about the Allegro 'square' steering wheel.

Half new super cars and some Audis don't have circular steering wheels!

You would have thought they'd have got an MG6, and possibly a 3, in there

Probably best they didn't though, it's not exactly a factual show

Top gear have always hated MG/Rover and anything to do with them, even today under new ownership. It wont change - they can harp on all they like about us still making stuff but Clarkson and co still had a hand in helping destroy the brand if you ask me.

The trouble is, anyone who isn't interested in cars (and seemingly a big part of the cosmetic/audio type modified car sense) take everything he says a gospel

Here's the statement from MG regarding his review of the 6

Can anyone remember what about said about Roewe in the China episode?
I have a feeling it wasn't too bad

Back on topic, the MINI really isn't that German
According to AR, even after BMW chose their concept over Rover's, they still made Rover do a lot of the work before taking the project back to finish off and ending up with all the credit credit

1997 glimse at new MINI shows Rover had been doing all the work to a car that's almost identical to the 2000 production car.

Wonder if that prototype was K series powered?
