Hi,

Followed the guides for fitting the mgf rad to my R100 (cut pins and rubbers down etc)

Despite adjusting the spring/latch mechanism that's fixed to the bonnet as much as it will go, the latch is hitting the top of the rad and won't lock in.

I've cut the bottom rad location pins down to about 5mm and it still won't fit. What am I doing wrong please?

I have cut a small section out of the rad and ground down the safety catch a little also have you cut the rubber grommets down this gives a little bit more too

Thanks for the reply!

Yes, I've cut a section out of the top channel in the rad and cut down the rubbers where the bottom pins/pegs locate.

I haven't taken anything off the actual latch. The other thing is that the plastic guide that latch pin drops in to looks to be catching the rad on the under side.

If I can't sort this does anyone know where new diesel rads can be sourced please?

Cut the rad pins down as much as possible ,If you unscrew the upper catch bit completely you can check for clearance without risking damaging the rad I just had to remove about 5mm from the safety catch bit and a section from top of rad under the catch maybe different makes of mgf rad are slightly bigger some people have used a socket or similar and put a depression in the lower crossmember to give a few extra mm at the mountings

I've had another quick look this eve and the plastic latch locating tube in the catch release mechanism is actually touching the top of the rad.

I also looked at the conical end part of the locating/latch pin. There was a slot in the end that looked as if some sort of adjustment was possible by turning a screw driver in it. I tried this but it wouldn't turn. I ground off about 5-8mm from the latch "barb" but it's still catching the rad.

The slot is for adjustment, but you have to undue the big hexagon nut jobby at the bonnet, its about 25mm A/F.
