You are correct, bridge into the white/black wire and just run this dirrect to your dash pod loom connector, I can't remember which pin you need to put it in on the loom connector so if no-one posts up saying which one it is I'll have a look at thw weekend for you.

Darren!!

Your not reading!!

The rev counter wire is incorporated into the engine wiring harness on the these later 1.1/1.4 MPI engines.
As mentioned before take the wire from the rev counter to the 13 way connector that interfaces between the engine and vehicle harnesses. The wire is white/black to connect to.

Probably find that the clock has packed up, mines the same, tried different bulbs, all work but still no clock, it will need replaceing with another, I have just put up with it as I just use the clock on my stereo or on my phone, saves stripping the dash apart again

Weird, and I dunno why the rev counter wil have gone off when all you've done is had the dash out and back in if it worked before...

Hi Norm

Its called "Sods Law"

Week before last fitted the electric mirrors on the GTI -- all worked. So properly fitted the wiring
and put dash back in. Drivers door mirror now jammed and passenger one going all over the place. Driver's
mirror replaced - one of the ratchets inside had stripped. Passenger mirror - missing earth.

SO!!!!

Last weekend - all electric windows working.

SO!!!!

Fitted door cards - damned passenger window does now not work - anyway fault was the switch. Had to
rebuild it. Contacts badly arced- must get some suppressors to stop this.

All wasted time!!

tony

thanks for replies. found the fault! it was a loose screw on the back. when i tried it the first time it must have been resting on something making the contact.
anyway all is well for now, its in and both clock and rev counter work
