I've just bought a metro! Number 6 ?? it has a 1.8t fitted but no ecu and loom.. where is the best place to get an ecu mapped? I have a mg zr 1.4 on mems 3, will this ecu be suitable for remapping? And will the loom be suitable for converting? Any thing I should watch out for with the conversion? Any top tips?

You bought the White gti off Ben I guess?

Adrian will convert you a loom he will tell you what you need to send him
K maps supply and map a ecu £320 slightly less if you supply one £280 I think but needs to be correct ecu so I'll be getting them to supply it's all plug and play will work first time then

you can use a the 1.4 ecu for the map to be put on, but it wont enable electronic controlled boost. but this could be sorted with a decent manual boost control

Ok.. say for instance I get the 1.4 ecu mapped and the map is set to be used with x psi boost. What's stopping you from adjusting the wastegate using the boost gauge reading to the correct boost.. I don't like the idea of a manual boost controller because you can get boost creep and I like turning things up that I shouldn't! I would rather it set correctly and not adjustable. And just out of intrest (I know it's unlimitedly variable) what bhp are you looking at?

Problem with just tightening the pre tension
on the waste gate is boost comes in more gradual I find.
I have a manual boost controller fitted to mine
and I have it set for 12 psi. At most it will spike up to
13 psi. At 12psi on standard engine/turbo and good size exhaust
And fuel pump you should see close to 200 hp

And if it does over boost there is a boost cut at 15ish psi
It will allow u to go over 15psi but only for a few seconds

Cool.. it's here now anyway and tbh I think it needs abit of work before I get a loom made.. might even use the engine in my mid engined metro yet.. but I still need to build that!

It's got abit of rust in unusual places but not much in the usual places.. I have swapped the engine for a 143 vvc for abit of fun and the turbo is going in the rear of my other one..
