Hello guys

I want more power - I am running a 1.8 lump with 1.9 mems. I understand that if I had mems3 I could get a re-map. What is involved with changing to mems3 versus a 160vvc lump?

what are the pro's and cons?
Shaun

Mems3 is a 160 so if you went 160 you could get that mapped.
You've got a GTi haven't you?

I dont know exactly what is involved in converting to mems3 but I do know that you wont get 160vvc power from remapping a 120bhp solid cam.

Hello all
yes I have a 1.8 mpi plastic inlet manifold - with mems 1.9.
I was wanting to know - roughly what was involved to move to mems 3 then get it remapped so that it drives nicer as I know realistically 125 bhp will be tops
or
just bite the bullet source a MGtf 160VVC and install that -

Be easier and cheaper to source a 160. Don't think you could convert the lump to run on mems3.
ZR 160's are going cheap as fook, I've seen some go for 200-300 quid. Take the engine ecu and loom, selector rods and sell on the rear beam/rear disc conversion for 1.4's etc and front brake set up etc to get some cash back.
Doesn't have to be a TF, although with one you'd have the subframe and shafts if you fit the shite PG1, but those are cheap anyway.
Worse bit is converting the loom but theres a couple on that facebook shite that could do it for you.
