Location: Beds | Yoko 048's have been the pick of the bunch for some while. The soft compound is fine on a 1400 and would cope with a VVC but the total grip level doesn't really differ all that much. The effect is more to do with warm up time, probably not an issue if your just doing trackdays rather than racing.
Pretty much all the racers run them, although I have also seen a few Avons appearing.
The Toyo is reported to warm up faster but also goes off sooner. The new Nankang ones are supposed to be pretty good too, though I've not tried them myself.
